The main concept informing this painting is the origin of light in the universe. From the oldest radiation - the cosmic microwave background left after the Big Bang, to the formation and collapse of colossal stars and galaxies, Primeval evokes a story as old as time.

Artist profile

My practice investigates concepts of the cosmic sublime. I apply layers of paint over weeks or months, preserving colour washes, brushwork, paint pouring, splattering and spraying between layers of transparent medium to form a record of accumulation. This approach mirrors the timeless changes of the universe, making the unseen visible.
