Subsong refers to a song of the Regent Honeyeater (Anthochaera Phrygia). A bird on the border of extinction. Once widespread in large numbers from South Australia to Central Queensland, the population of the Regent Honeyeater has plummeted to an estimated three hundred individuals in a space of fifty years.

Artist profile

Ro Murray and Mandy Burgess, make large-scale installations addressing
environmental issues. Since 2015, they have had four solo exhibitions.
Highlights this year include North Sydney Art Prize, Saw Millers, Eden
Unearthed, Canberra Biennial, and a Create NSW grant for a sound
component to their solo exhibition at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre,
Katoomba.
