These figures are arrived at spontaneously, working with chance runs of white gouache on a black acrylic background to elaborate and complete the suggested image. As such they generate interpretations while remaining upstream of any concept that may be derived from them.

Artist profile

Kendal Heyes’ work covers a range of mediums including drawing, painting, printmaking and photography. His work is represented in many collections in New Zealand and Australia, including Victoria, Otago and Massey Universities, the National Gallery of Australia, and the Art Galleries of South Australia and New South Wales.
