 Unravelling

.

 paint on canvas 5 sections 600 x 400 mmX 5, 2024; framed unravel 600 x 850 mm, 2023

Introducing Jenny N. Over the last decade I have produced several works that use the process of unravelling, that implies a kind of Fluxus methodology in its vain attempt to unravel the history of the prison that is powerfully embedded in the Australian psyche. I am an artist and a curator (Dreams Nursed in Darkness at Wollongong Art Gallery 2024) and also in 2023 I made a large textile there's a reason beyond a reason out of unravelled garments at Carriageworks. I am currently working as a curator at the Boom Gate Gallery at Long Bay Correctional Centre. Jenny N. is an inmate whose work we exhibit. This inventive conceptual work that she made addessing her domestic violence charge was done with three friends implying a collective support against the isolation of her marriage.
