This work explores the nuances of societal dynamics of individuality. Each form, unique in its curvature and stature. Mirroring the diversity of women. The struggle to embrace our differences but need to belong.

Artist profile

Jules Irving is a Sydney based Ceramic Artist working on the Gadigal lands of the Eora Nation, never ceded.

Her sculptural forms are hand coiled, burnished and sprayed with a fine clay slip. She often uses Raku Kilns where the unpredictable outcome of fire and carbon trapping never ceases to surprise. She works on several pieces at a time, manipulating the curves to entice in the viewer a desire to touch an intrinsic human need.
Coming from a Nursing background she uses clay to explore Art Therapy. When she first touched clay she was drawn to its malleability and felt it a fabulous material to convey emotions.
She completed her Cert 3 and Diploma of Visual Arts/ Ceramics at Hornsby TAFE and then moved to Northern Beaches TAFE to complete her Advanced Diploma in Visual Arts/Ceramics due access to Raku Kilns.
She’s been a finalist in several Art Prizes and exhibited in many group shows.
