Lisa Pang

 Indigo Monochrome Mending Project, 2023

.

Indigo-dyed cotton duck, cotton sashiko thread, artists’ jeans

A performative, collaborative and ongoing work to mend other artists’ jeans with hand-stitched patches of indigo-dyed canvas. Over time, an indigo monochrome will be cut up and dispersed as various repair patches in clothing worn by artists in a gesture of admiration, connection, and dissemination as the repaired jeans are returned to the artists. The patches and stitches are drawings, marks inserted in the interstices of relationships between artists; friends, mentors, teachers and community that wear and soften over time.
An interactive repair workshop with Lisa sitting in the gallery (on weekends) stitching. Artists, torn jeans for repair are welcome. They will be returned repaired.
