 Mixed Media Sculptural Assemblage 2023/2024

In my mixed-media sculptural assemblage, disembodied fragments of a figure leaping over a high jump, contemplate the hurdles one faces in both art and life. Composed of the experimental and crumbling process materials used to cast a resin figure, each remnant a metaphor for the diverse challenges artists confront. Adhesive transparencies of Rainbow MRI images are a canvas for various art mediums I've explored, symbolising the diverse skills gained through perseverance. This assemblage symbolises the struggle to start an art career, yet it also reflects newfound capability, inspired by my participation in the Ancher Points Program. This transformative experience shattered the notion of sticking to a niche for success and relinquished me from the oppressive grip of perfectionism. Now, I embrace a vast array of mediums and forms of expression, realising that my diverse interests contribute to a well-rounded, continuously evolving artistic journey. This piece encapsulates the resilience and growth achieved by leaping into the unknown and transcending perceived limitations.

Artist profile

I am an emerging Wiradjuri artist living and creating on Dharug country.
After departing from a healthcare career in 2020 to pursue my passion for the arts, my multidisciplinary work serves as a reflection of diverse experiences and an exploration of themes surrounding mental health, neurodivergence, and cultural identity.
Embracing experimentation with new mediums for interactive sensory engagement, I seek to create immersive experiences that resonate deeply with audiences.
