Photo silk screen prints on galvanised sheet metal using mixed acrylic paint media and print paste.

A page from Sidney's Album, 2019 1-12 is a series of silk screen prints on sheet metal that reference one image from a larger body of photographic work created in 2018 titled Sidney's Album about the life of my Uncle Sidney Webb.

This 20th century family story about my Uncle's life began with a tour of Wallerawang Power Station in 2018 where he worked after WWII. He lived locally with his wife Florence and son Ray in a stone house in Portland. During the war he was enlisted in the merchant Navy.

I felt a visceral reaction to the coal powered history at this site and printed the images during the heat of the 2019 bush fires in the Blue Mountains.

Artist profile

Intrinsic to my artmaking is an inquisitive examination of place (site), family and memory- attached to both personal and collective histories. As an artist I challenge histories and attempt to question it via research, incorporating personal, traditional and social histories to construct narratives using visual material both found and fabricated.

I am a mid-career contemporary artist whose work is multi tangent using a variety of media. My studio history as an artist spans over 30 years integrating elements of family history, site specific memory, social histories, landscape, death and flux.
