 Ashes of Creation

.

 Cyanotype on paper, 390 x 520 mm, 2025

Ashes of Creation a photograph reminiscent of the 2018 bushfires, is not intended to evoke a sense of sadness or anger, rather the photograph offers a space to pause and reflect and to see how resilient nature can be especially during a time of crisis. My photography is not only a reflection of nature, but also one that offers alternative perspectives which seek to embody relationships and the ecology. The photograph is a blend of digital photography with analogue photography through a Cyanotype process, an alternative photographic technique which dates to the 1840s.
Stephanie is an emerging artist with a photographic practice. Her practice draws on both the analogue and the digital and the tensions this holds within a contemporary understanding of the post-Anthropocene world. Rather than just reflect on nature, her perspective offers an embodied relationship with the complexities of an integral ecology. Stephanie has completed the Master of Curating and Cultural Leadership at UNSW. She received a Bachelor of Design in Photography at UTS where she began to develop and expanded on her photographic practice in both analogue and digital photography. Her curatorial work is an ongoing exploration of the relationship between nature, light and the humans and the environment. She is interested in the dual roles of exhibition making and art practice that explores these themes.
