The Sheet Mobile: A Catalyst for Conversation and Climate Action
The Sheet Mobile emerged as part of the Give a Sheet campaign after I learned of the continued logging of Tasmania’s ancient Gondwana forests to produce woodchips and toilet paper—a stark contradiction given the catastrophic bushfires of 2019 that ravaged native forests and wildlife. This realisation, informed by insights from David Lindenmayer's The Forest Wars (2024), struck me as emblematic of a deeper social disconnect. Despite the visible signs of climate collapse, we continue to literally consume and discard our ecosystems. The Sheet Mobile, a satirical and captivating refurbished bike, offers a playful response to this issue, creating a welcoming platform for public engagement with critical environmental challenges.
Incorporating humour and accessibility, the Sheet Mobile invites people to:

1. Engage in meaningful conversations that serve as catalysts for emotional shifts and potential action. This approach is inspired by Rebecca Huntley’s How to Talk About Climate Change in a Way That Makes a Difference (2020), where she underscores the power of human exchange in fostering change.

2. Take political action by writing a message to Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek on a sheet of toilet paper, which can be placed in a paper-mâché toilet on the bike.

Exploring Interconnection and Social Engagement through Art and Activism
My work as an artivist is rooted in the exploration of interconnection—both the visible and the unseen. At the heart of my practice are themes of community, conversation and climate action. Through group circles, interactive installations, performance and visual art, I create platforms that remind us of our belonging to nature and our shared responsibility in the face of ecological crisis. Each project is an invitation to engage, imagine, and contribute to a vision of a more harmonious and connected future.
