 Imagining Snow

.

 Pastel on Black Canson paper, 100 x 150, 2024

To capture the essence of the ephemeral is to capture a snowflake falling. Once it hits an object, it will disappear forever or change into something else.
This work, ‘Imagining Snow’, embodies this fleeting moment. As the snow falls, it does not take a singular path; it floats in the air and moves randomly. Using black paper as my substrate, I sought to exploit its density to consider the void or absence of all life. The random movement of the snowflake ultimately fills the void, obscuring it from our view, the ephemeral captured in memory.
