 It Doesn’t Cost the Earth

.

 Printing on acrylic paint skins, 160 cms H x 95 cms W, 2025

Wall mounted hanging of sewn printed paint skins on pink silk chiffon. The use of image transfer of consumables from magazines onto earth colours to add texture and pattern rather than literal pictorial representation. Use of the pink chiffon was an op shop find and fits in with the message of repurpose/recycle and refers to the feminine Mother Earth and of nurture and healing. Images are formed on a gelliplate and then cut up to be reassembled.
Printmaker gone rogue. Exploring materiality and process. I am drawn to texture and the tactile, to the patina of time and I delight in treasure found in unexpected places (junk).
Printed crushed paper, fabric and stitching are prominently featured in my practice. The venture into paint skins is new and a product of playing with a non conventional form of printing off a gelliplate.
