shimmer ::: eucalyptus - red|green|blue. 2025. Digital print of scanned/digital 3D model in red, blue, green. 12x18cm each.

Shimmer in the landscape can be thought of as the transformation from dull
to brilliance (Morphy 1989), the glistening of activity and the pulse of life (Haraway 2016; Rose 2022; van Dooren 2016), of interconnections in ecology in the landscape. If landscapes in the physical world shimmer due to decentralised ecology and its interconnections and relationships between
species, their habitats and the land in their physical environments, do digital
landscapes shimmer as well?
Kath O’Donnell is an emerging artist based in the Southern Highlands, NSW,
creating and researching for her specture project — speculative|species
future|architecture — exploring topics such as extinction, speculative evolution and ecologies, habitats, landscape, placeless space, interconnectedness and decentralised topologies via various digital and physical mediums.
