This video shows impressions from the ‘Yaama Ngunna Baaka - Welcome To Our Rivers' Corroboree expedition initiated by the Budjiti / Murrawari Elder, artist and activist Bruce Shillingsworth.

The expedition was conceived to raise awareness about the water crisis in the Murray-Darling river system. The 2019 drought in Western New South Wales exposed the corruption of water management, water theft, privatisation. The construction of private dams to divert large amounts of water from the rivers to big agricultural farms and irrigators is perceived to be the cause for the natural river system to dry up, leading to a lack of drinking water in the communities, the dying of fish, destruction of wildlife and the environment.

We travelled in two buses to the indigenous communities along the river Baaka (Darling River), visiting Walgett, Brewarrina, Bourke, Wilcannia and Menindee.
