 Being, Non-being and Becoming

 Industrial Felt and acrylic paint, 3 parts, 60 x 40 x 20cm each, 2024

Being, Non-being and Becoming continue an ongoing investigation into how the formal qualities of an artwork give rise to meaning - colour being one of these alongside form and materials.

Artist profile

Dr Sarah Robson has been a practising artist for over 30 years, exhibiting nationally and internationally, with a practice encompassing painting, sculpture and installation. Her most recent works employ industrial felt, bronze and cotton twine to construct a vocabulary of forms that do not have a fixed mode of display. These artworks position, philosophically and practically, the rational and the organic side by side and nominate aesthetic experience as a complex of mind/body engagement. Sarah is interested in art as a meditation on the nature of existence—the fundamental relationship of all things and how this is revealed through the formal qualities of an artwork.
