 Body of Work

.

Medium: Fabric, wool, cotton, leather, calico, metal, wadding Dimensions: 70 cm W x 100cm L ( 6 components of variable sizes ) Years produced: 2023 -2024

My current art practice uses recycled wearable clothes, objects, and yarns sourced from charity shops and sometimes from my wardrobe. With approximately 6000 kilos of textiles and clothes discarded in Australian landfills every 10 minutes, upcycling clothes for art making is a political statement.

'Body of Work' uses recycled wearable objects to produce a cluster of bodily shapes. Materials are coiled, padded, twined, sewn, stitched and glued.

This work continues my ongoing interest in the embodied sculptural object and the relationship between abstraction, bodies, objects, and spaces.

Artist profile

I am a visual artist from Melbourne. My work is centred on notions of materiality and the body. I have exhibited my textile objects in group shows in both Melbourne and Sydney. I have completed a Bachelor of Fine Art with Honours from Monash University and a Master of Fine Art from RMIT.
