'Stair Amendments, Version 2' is a set of steps made in tandem with the work, 'Stair Amendments', which I produced for Factory 49 in 2018. In both instances the steps or ‘stairs’ underline and magnify the particular nature of the existing steps to which they relate- their materiality and their function.
The carboard constructions at Articulate give voice to the worn wooden treads (worn by feet and, in their former life, cars). The risers are closed in by tracing paper, transforming them into a new single unit through which the passing movement of people can be witnessed, as through a softened screen.
