 Vanishing Point X

.

 Oil on canvas, 122 x 90cm, 2010.

This is from a series of paintings based on a double grid, one vertical/horizontal, the other at 30 degrees. These grids form triangles, each of which is painted according to a predetermined set of rules that allows for occasional variation. The double grid maintains the flatness of the painting’s surface, while the colour relations create ambiguous space. For some of the triangles I used mica-based pigments so the image changes as the viewer moves in front of the painting.
