Working with wax and pleats
.
Several examples of this body of work are provided for selection by the curator. All are 2016-2018.
Prints from a field trip to Fowlers Gap in western NSW reference the crumpling corrugated iron marked with the weathering of the land. They are an experiment in submerging paper in bees wax to support pleating and weighting.
These works were an experiment with beeswax as I was learning encaustic techniques. They are the first steps in considering how I could create 3D work from prints, which I have continued to make since. I had just completed a Masters in Printmaking at what was then COFA, UNSW. They were the beginning of my experiments with printmaking techniques and approaches outside the disciplines of etching and editions.
