If a tree falls in the forest...

.

Native leaf prints on paper, soil, vintage phone
1,5 M Width x 2 M Height
$1,200

This installation invites viewers to confront the silent void left by deforestation, a relentless crisis eroding our natural world. As green spaces become our best asset against climate change, their destruction is all the more devastating.
Suspended in the air are paper prints of native leaves, each meticulously handpicked by a Dirt Witch, an all-female artists' collective. These floating leaves are symbolic fingerprints on a once-thriving genealogical tree, now fractured—a stark representation of loss: the loss of identity, the disconnection from the natural world, all erased with the disappearance of Australia’s once-vast native forests.
Beneath this fragile canopy rests an unattended phone, evoking a profound disconnect. Is anyone left to answer the call, or has the line gone as silent as the missing trees? If a tree falls and no one listens, who will hear its call?
