The humble paper bag; environmental help or hindrance?
My paper bag works allude to the everyday problem of consumerism and it's by-product; waste. As an artistic medium, paper bags are delicate and ephemeral, with endless scope for creative potential, however when experienced en masse provide a visual confrontation of the escalating problem of accumulation and excess in our modern world.

Artist profile

Amber is a multi-disciplinary artist living and working on Wangal Land. her work is process-based and addresses the concepts of materiality and spirituality in contemporary art. Created through repetitious actions Amber’s work evokes a sense of calm and offers a counterbalance to the superficiality and detachment we experience living in a frenetic modern world. Her abstract sculptures, constructed primarily from leftover paper shopping bags, encourage viewers to look beyond the material world to a place of contemplation, and awareness of our place in the bigger picture of life.
