‘Maglia Rotta Fragment’ is a byproduct from ongoing research into Archizoom’s ‘Diagramma Abitativo Omogeneo’ - a 1969 typewriter drawing which dispensed a hypothetical ‘non-figurative language of architecture’, and a critique-via-fiction of a post-Fordist future predicated on the erasure of urbanity.

Here, an electronic typewriter is used to transliterate a present where decommissioned paper mills become hyperscale data centres, and zones of cities are gradually buried beneath bricked terminals; decoding equivalence with each keystroke by counting down its own eventual disuse. This fragment was an attempted prototype for a larger work, drafted as the ribbon ended unexpectedly.
