 The Earth Melts Away

.

Charcoal, sandpaper and pencil on paper. Dimensions Variable. 2022-2024

First produced in 2022, this work is now being redeveloped into a three-dimensional object that can stand with the support of a bespoke curved and discreet frame. The work will take the shape of aspiral or a hollow cylinder with a gap on the curved surface, like two arms in a gesture of embrace. This is my latest attempt at installing a large paper work in a sculptural manner, having previously reinforcing paper with fibreglass and resin, as well as framing the work using hollow blocks or bespoke wooden frames.

Artist profile

In a world of increasing AI, Kristone creates works that are decisively tactile and hand-made; unique gestures of mark-making; shared moments and live collaborations that are singular and unrepeatable. His practice is shaped by the Incarnational traditions of Filipino figurative art, approaching the human body as mysterious sites of transcendence.
