 Burning Time

.

 Pyrography on paper, 15 35x35cm panels, overall 105x175cm, 2024.

This multi-panel work is about time, place and memory; the way the past and thoughts of other places and events impinge on what is happening in the present. The medium is pyrography, the images burned into paper using a laser cutter.
To illustrate the process by which it was produced, I've included some pen and ink drawings that were the sources of imagery. These drawings were photographed, the images edited then details of each drawing printed by the laser cutter. In this way the process is like photography, where the drawings function like negatives.
