 Omnipotence (Expanded Painting)

.

Acrylic on canvas & tape, painting, 61x91.5cm, 2024-2025

I wish to exhibit one or two of my paintings (happy to discuss what work you think is best) as expanded paintings. My expanded paintings refer to a painting hanging on a wall with paint or tape coming out of the work or extending the shapes and lines within the work onto the wall. The two paintings I am suggesting to exhibit are from my Exalt collection, a series of artworks created in direct response to my art residency at the British School of Rome in late 2023. The taped form/lines I would install around the painting are from an installation I previously created in my Rome studio but haven't remade with a painting since. I would also be open to painting star/stars on either sides of the work as part of a continuation but understand the need for a quick turn around with de-installation for the next exhibition.

I would use blue painters tape for the lines around the hung painting and would paint the star forms on either side if desired. The tape installation would take me 5/6 hours and the tape + paint would take 8 hours but happy to stretch it out over two days/install hours provided. I don't have measurements of the entire installation as it would depend on the height of the wall provided but ideally I would want the highest wall to install on and would continue the tape onto the floor/ceiling if possible.

Artist profile

As a visual artist, I am creating a new way of seeing and understanding architectural imagery with sacred connotations. I am fascinated with the material representations of a paradise on earth. It has led my investigation into how contemporary art, through the use of colour, collage, fragmentation, and geometry in spiritual and transcendent forms, can imply a sacred realm. During my transpersonal experiences from childhood to adolescence, I felt an awareness of an otherworldly dimension through the sensation of a spiritual aesthetic in Greek Orthodox churches in Sydney, Australia. The fragments within the interior and exterior facade resemble unspoken yearnings and spatial order of awe-inspiring power. In each space, I became aware of an aura of a higher being, finding myself absorbed in the search for a mystical realm of my own understanding.
